Here’s a plea, not just to the McCain campaign, but to people everywhere who attempt smearing someone’s reputation with false allegations: If you’re going to do it, don’t make claims that can be refuted with two minutes and a decent search engine. That’s just stupid.

Here it is: We’ve created a comprehensive time-line of John McCain’s statements on Iraq, from the inception of the conflict to the present.
Our time-line casts some doubt on a key McCain campaign claim: That he’s been a broad critic of Bush’s war policies for many years now.
It also finds multiple inconsistencies in his public statements on the war.

I’m all for good security, but this is ridiculous.
“He yelled at me to get the belt off. ‘I told you to get the belt off.’ So I took the belt off. He ran his hands down over and pulled the pants down, they went down around my ankle,” Perry said.
At that point, Perry was standing in his underwear in public view. He asked to see a supervisor. That made things worse.
“She was yelling ‘I have power, I have power, I have power,” Perry said. The power to stop him from flying to Florida with his wife that day to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.

Look, I know this was just another verbal slip. McCain has been incompetent about foreign affairs for quite a while, and in the grand scheme of things, it’s relatively inconsequential that he keeps referencing a country that ceased to be in 1993. He’s said far worse.
But the raison d’etre of John McCain’s entire presidential campaign is the notion that he’s an expert on foreign policy, thanks to his decades of experience as a Washington insider. When the foreign policy expert keeps referencing a non-existent country, it’s not unreasonable to mention that maybe his expertise isn’t quite as impressive as his campaign and the political media establishment would like us to believe.

Here’s an interesting new study that might shed some light on the causation of and possible treatments for Autism. It should be noted, however, that many of the children studied suffered from other neurological problems and had parents who were related. Whether a study of the general population would yield the same results are not is unclear.
New research suggests that some cases of autism arise from defects in genes that can be turned on or off by mental activity, a finding that sheds light on the devastating condition and might eventually lead to strategies to treat it.
