Work is Fun
Posted by miri On 4 May, 2004
Well, today wasn’t fun. I got paged to come into work early because there was a problem with our online banking server. I ended up spending most of the day on the phone with our vendor trying to trouble shoot the problem. It’s still not 100% fixed – the vendor is “having a round table” to try and sort out the issues.
Of course, my day wasn’t as bad as my boss’ day. It was the first day of her vacation and she had to come in to help. I felt so bad about that. The only up side for selfish me is that I got to meet her new puppy! She just got the puppy on Sunday. Since she’d been trying for a long time to figure out a name for her new little girl, one of the first things I asked was if a name had been chosen. Indeed. Her name is Ursa.

Photo re-Do

Since I don’t seem to be able to keep up with the daily photo idea, I’ve changed my photo album around a bit. It will also make it easier to upload new photos. So, be prepared for a lot of new Mishka photos.
Shopping with Mom

I should never go shopping with my mother. Last year, I asked her to go along with me when I was looking for a new chair – I ended up with two chairs. Today, I needed to buy a nightside stand. I ended up buying said stand, a desk and a dining room table with six matching chairs! My mommy’s a bad influence on me.
Bye, Bob

Today was Bob Edward’s last day as the host of NPR’s “Morning Show.” He has been the host for 24 years. Since my clock radio is set to my local NPR station, I’ve woken up to Mr. Edward’s voice for more years than I can remember. I was watching Bill Moyer’s “Now” this evening. After a frightening piece on how the White House pushed the Medicare bill through congress, Bill started conducting an interview with someone. I missed the intro, so at first, I had no idea who the interviewee was. All he had to do was say a few words and I knew. No mistaking that voice.
How will I wake up now?

Laser pointer + kitten = way too much fun.
War and Peace

Yesterday, World War III was declared in my house. It was non-stop cat combat. Just a few minutes ago? Mishka and Freya were grooming each other.
Oh wait, now we are back to war. Guess it was just a momentary cease-fire.
Valuable Lesson

If kitten has earring (attached to owner) in his teeth, don’t squirt with water to discipline. Why? Kittie’s first reaction is not to let go of the earring, it’s to shake his head violently. *sigh*
Oldest Known Pet Cat

My friend Jess came over to visit the new kitten (and bring me cotton balls to clean his ears) and she told me about this recent news story: Oldest Known Pet Cat?
