Who said Bush never makes sacrifices?
US President George W. Bush said in an interview out Tuesday that he quit playing golf in 2003 out of respect for the families of US soldiers killed in the conflict in Iraq, now in its sixth year.

Hey, guys – here’s a handy scale to help you rate your wife. Well, if you want to get slapped silly and never plan on having marital sex again.
A psychologist’s attempt to improve marriages provides an interesting glimpse into the social norms of the 1930s—and into one of the first scientific matchmaking services.

I love these photos of bears invading a home owner’s playground. I doubt the home owner was too thrilled, though. As the person who passed the link on said:
What I love about those is that the cubs are doing what human kids do at a playground: They don’t use the equipment properly, and two of them are off on the side fighting.

On this 100th anniversary of Mother’s Day, the woman credited with creating one of the world’s most celebrated holidays probably wouldn’t be pleased with all the flowers, candy or gifts.
Anna Jarvis would want us to give mothers a white carnation — she felt it signified the purity of a mother’s love.
Guess this means I should take back the camera I got my mom? ;)

Here’s a wonderful set of photos taken for a BBC special. They hid remote controlled cameras in logs and then had elephants carry and place them (the mind boggles). They ended up with some wonderful shots! While you are there, check out the video clips too!

This is what it sounds like in my house while I’m playing Wii tennis…especially on long points:
<sound of music blaring with my iPod set on random>
<various hits without me making any sounds except maybe singing along with said music>
oof
oooOOf!
OOOOF!
Bah!
Bah!
BAH!
BAH!!!!!!
BAH!!!!!!
SHIT!
<sigh>
I now have greater sympathy for real tennis players who grunt/yell while they play.

This post on Talking Points Memo sums up a lot of the reasons why I switched my support from Clinton to Obama. I truly feel you can tell a lot about how someone will run the White House by how they run their campaign.
If somehow against all odds she got nominated, I’d vote for her, but I’d do so utterly unconvinced that the quality of her leadership wouldn’t bring about disastrous results no less than the disastrous results that McCain’s wrongheaded policies and own cravenness would bring about. Yes, her policy positions would be much better than McCain’s. But if she’s this divisive, this self-preserving, this craven, I think the results can still be horrible, even with policy positions that are much closer to mine.

This makes me so sad and not exactly proud of my birth state.
